Membership Fees – A reminder that membership fees were due on 1 April 2025 after that date please provide an SAE enabling membership card to be posted to you.
First walk will be on May Day – Monday May 5th (Start time 11 am)
No walk is planned for Sunday June 15th due to the Scarborough trip

Note – for folk attending the trip to Scarborough, John is holding a meeting on Tuesday May 13th at 1930, at the Conservative Club on Billing Road. This will be useful for information sharing, answering any questions and for John to distribute luggage labels. John is keen for you to attend to share information and save postage on luggage labels.

delightful circular walk follows the countryside between two charming villages, Little Brington,
Great Brington with the hamlet of Nobottle. A short stretch of road walking is involved, but
much is along a quiet country lane. Some short inclines but mainly flat level going with 4 stiles.

A lovely country ramble across fields to Potterspury, then to the picturesque village of Furtho and back to Yardley Gobion. Please park with consideration for others in the village.

Morning Walk: Meet for a 10 am start at Ise Valley Pavillion, Grantown Close, Kettering, postcode NN15 5DJ. This is a lovely easy walk taking in Barton Seagrave, Wicksteed Park Arboretum, the nature reserve and the park itself. Walking in some fields, a residential area and the walk contains 2 stiles. Plenty of parking is available in the parking bays provided at the pavilion.

This circular walk winds its way through the countryside, linking the two villages of Little Brington and Whilton with the hamlet of Brockhall. It crosses a landscape of large fields offering extensive views across Northamptonshire. Some road walking is involved, but much of this is along a quiet country lane with little passing traffic; the walk contains several stiles. Refreshments are available after the walk at the Saracens Head, please make your own arrangements.

Morning Walk: Meet for a 10 am start outside The Wharf Inn, Welford, Northampton, postcode NN6 6JQ, what3words:ambition.webcams.vintages. We walk through the village and onto the Grand Union Canal towpath, returning to The Wharf via the Welford Arm. The walk is a little undulating to start but flat along the canal towpaths; it contains a couple of stiles. There is plenty of parking at The Wharf and a table has been booked for lunch. We walk from Cogenhoe and go via Brafield-on-the-Green. The walk is on very good paths with no stiles and provides far reaching views with little traffic noise (other than in Cogenhoe). Please park in Short Lane next to the pub or otherwise in the village, taking consideration for the villagers. Please do not use the pub car park unless staying for refreshments.

Meet for a 1900 hrs start outside Foxfield Pavillion, Foxfield Way, (Foxfield Country Park) Grange Park, Northampton, postcode NN4 5BE. Although this is mainly an “urban” walk we use the green spaces that have been built into the estate. The country park is a wide open space on the very outskirts of Northampton / Grange Park. *The walk contains an option of a short cut for anyone who finds this too far; reducing the milage to approx. 2.5 miles.

Starting at Harlestone we walk towards Nobottle skiting Yewtree Spinney and Nobottle Wood. Thereafter walking on to Harpole skirting Harpole Covert. Morning Walk: Meet for a 10 am start at Manor Farm Court, postcode MK12 5NN (off Old Wolverton Road), what3words:bunks.cliff.towels. A walk through the Floodplain Forest Nature Reserve in Ouse Valley Park. (This is home to many water birds and an ancient breed of cattle) Walking through paths and fields to Cosgrove with some stiles. After a short stretch of road walking, back along the Grand Union Canal past the site of the old port and over the 200 year old iron aqueduct, a marvel of early 19th century engineering and still in use today. There are no toilets in the carpark, the nearest facilities are The Galleon Pub, Old Wolverton Road. Please make your own arrangements for lunch.

An easy circular walk taking us through classic Northamptonshire countryside containing some lovely views. The walk contains one short flight of steps (with handrail) and no stiles. Morning Walk: Meet for a 10 am start outside St Margaret Church, Bedford Road, Denton, Northamptonshire, postcode NN7 1DG. Walk takes us across the fields to the hamlet of Chadstone, using a combination of tracks, bridleways and field paths heading to Cogenhoe and on towards Brafield-on-the-Green. There are extensive views across the Nene Valley. Before Brafield we head back to Denton. Walk contains 4 stiles, one of which Alan refers to as a “double stile” together with an awkward challenge where we go down a bank to cross a stream via a wooden bridge; however this can be managed with care. The walk contains a number of arable fields hence could be muddy if wet. Alan's 33rd Anniversary walk which was previously cancelled.

Evening Walk: Start time to be determined, either 1730 or 1900 hrs. Meet at Hollowell Sailing Club, Hollowell, Northampton, postcode NN6 8RN. The walk follows the path around the reservoir passing through a wooded area and open meadows. Watch out for wildlife. Some walking is on rough ground and includes some gentle slopes. Possibly damp and muddy in places dependent on the weather. The walk contains no stiles and three or four gates. Plenty of parking is available in the club car park. Toilets are available.

A pleasant stroll through the village to the reservoir. Thereafter the walk follows a path around the reservoir, passing through a wooded area and open meadows; looking out for wildlife. Some walking is on rough ground and includes some gentle slopes. Possible damp and muddy in places dependent on the weather. The walk contains no stiles and three or four gates. We will stop at Hollowell Sailing Club for a break where toilets are available. Park in the pub car park or considerately in the village.

Evening Walk: Meet for a 1900 hrs start at Dobbies Garden Centre / Waitrose shop, Newport Pagnell Road, Northampton, Postcode NN4 6HP. This is a nice easy evening stroll along the Newport Pagnell road to and around Hardingstone Pocket Park. The walk contains no stiles or gates and consists of an easy paved walkway all around. The garden centre gates close at 2100 hence plenty of time for a walk and shopping afterwards otherwise a drink in the Queen Eleanor Pub.

Evening Walk: Meet for a 1900 hrs start at the roundabout close to The Brittania Pub. Nearest postcode NN4 7YB, GR SP 777595, OS Explorer map 223, what3words:envy.trees.drop. A gentle walk following footpaths to Brackmills Country Park, skirting the edge of the park to connect with the disused railway line which leads towards Great Houghton. From Great Houghton we cross the A428, then walk across fields to The Washlands. Returning via the edge of the Washland to the Water Centre and finally back to our cars. The walk contains 2 stiles. Parking is available on the road near to The Brittania, however DO NOT park in The Brittania car park as it is monitored and you will be fined. Graham will wait and meet everyone at the roundabout.

Morning Walk: Meet for a 10 am start in Drovers Car Park, Hunsbury Hill Country Park, Hunsbury Hill Road, Northampton, postcode NN4 9UW. An easy walk containing no stiles, starting from the café, walking through East & West Hunsbury parks and Delapre Abbey. It is a figure of 8 walk, taking in the woods surrounding Delapre Golf Course and the 1460 War of the Roses area. There will be a stop at the Delapre Café if open for a convenience stop and afterwards snack food is available in the Drovers Café.
