SEPTEMBER
Saturday 14 September
Leader: Gill Finch 07977 422473 6.5 miles morning walk: Meet 10am at the church of St Michael & All Angels, Church Street, Newnham, postcode NN11 3ET. This delightful circular walk follows the countryside between two charming villages, Newnham, Weedon Bec with the hamlet of Little Everdon. The countryside hereabouts is beautiful, and the views are uninterrupted. A short stretch of road walking is involved, but much of this is along a quiet country lane. There are several stiles to climb. Refreshments available after the walk at the Narrow Boat, Weedon NN7 4RZ.
Sunday 22 September
Leader: Andy Schofield 6 miles morning walk: Meet at 10 am The Royal Oak, Zion Hill, Walgrave, postcode NN6 9PN, GR SP 803722, OS Explorer map 223. This lovely walk will visit the villages of Hannington and Holcot. It contains some stiles and road walking. Please make your own arrangements for lunch. Note: this a different walk from Walgrave.

This circular walk takes in East Farndon church and Adams Mile. Some uphill walking and 5 stiles. Lunch will be available after the walk at Farndon Fields restaurant.

Leader: Linda Lamb 07392 838990 5 miles morning walk: Meet at 10 am at The Kings Arms, Main Street, Farthingstone, Towcester, postcode NN12 8EZ, GR SP 614551, OS Landranger map 152. The walk takes us through countryside to High Wood, an ancient woodland managed by the Wildlife Trust. Continuing across open farmland containing a few stiles. Of interest back in the village is the peaceful Joy Mead garden and cloisters. And also a very unusual pub garden. Lunch is available at the Kings Arms, please make your own arrangements, booking is advised.

Leader: Phil and Lindsay 07939 315683 5.5 miles morning walk: Meet at 10 am at The Dukes Arms, 82 High Street, Woodford, Kettering, postcode NN14 4HE. Meet on the green opposite this pub. The walk takes us across fields to the river Nene, then on to Denford. From here we continue to Ringstead and thereafter returning to Woodford. The walk contains 2 stiles. please make your own arrangement for lunch.

A walk over green fields from Farthingstone to the Kinghtley way and then along a footpath almost to Litchborough and then back up to Farthingstone. It is a relatively flat walk containing a few stiles. Drinks and a light lunch will be available in the Kings Arms.

The circular walk takes us along canal side and fields around Welford taking in parts of the Shakespeare’s Avon Way and Jurassic Way. Refreshments and food are available at the Wharf Inn.

Leader: Graham & Sylvie Pickard 07708 223343 6 miles morning walk: Meet at 10 am car park Whilton Locks, Whilton, Daventry, postcode NN11 2NH, GR SP 617644, OS Explorer map 223, what3words tunnel.survey.juggles. This is a circular walk starting and finishing at Whilton Locks car park. We will start off by walking along the towpath of the Grand Union Canal until we reach the A5. Crossing the A5 to pick up the footpath leading to Long Buckby and over the M1 motorway. From Long Buckby we will follow a number of footpaths heading across fields towards Long Buckby Wharf. There will be a short section of road walking, then we will follow the footpath back to Whilton Locks. The walk has 6 stiles. For those that do not wish to do the full walk, there is a shorter walk which doesn’t have any stiles. I will supply more details on the day to those wishing to walk the shorter version. Please make your own arrangements for lunch.

An agricultural walk through farmland, passing by Rowley Wood to Hartwell. Back through Hartwell End Farm, Stonepit to Ashton. A few stiles, no hills, a good November walk. please make your own arrangement for lunch.

Leader: Jan Holt 07762 701985 5 miles morning walk: Meet at 10 am The Elgar Centre, High Street, Upton, postcode NN5 4EN. The walk starts at the Elgar Centre, we then walk over to Storton Pits, around Sixfields Lake, over the field to the canal and back via Upton Country Park. No arrangements for lunch have been made however options are restaurants at Sixfields and nearby Beefeater Turnpike at Harpole Turn.
ALAN’S 33RD ANNIVERSARY WALK
Saturday 7 December
Leader: Alan Page 07594 384421 5.2 miles morning walk: Meet at 10 am at St Margaret of Antioch Church, Denton, Northants, postcode NN7 1DG. A walk across the fields to the hamlet of Chadstone. We then use a combination of tracks, bridleways and field paths first heading towards Cogenhoe before turning left to head towards Brafield-on-the-Green. There are extensive views across the Nene Valley. Just before Brafield we turn left again to head over fields back to Denton. There are 4 stiles one of which I call a “double stile” and an awkward bit where we need to go down a bank to cross a stream via a wooden bridge but nothing we can’t manage with care. There are a number of arable fields on this walk and if ploughed may be muddy. please make your own arrangement for lunch.

Sunday 15 December
Leader: Graham & Sylvie Pickard 07708 223343 5 miles morning walk: Meet at 11 am at The Rose & Crown Car Park, 3 Park road, Hartwell, Postcode NN7 2HP, GR SP 785503, OS Explorer map 207, what3words blunders.inferior.corrode. This is a relaxing pre-meal walk starting from The Rose & Crown car park. From the car park we will make our way along Forest Road and over the motorway. Thereafter we will pick up the trail on the left-hand side taking us onto Wootton Road. Crossing Wootton Road, we will walk further into Salcey Forest eventually ending at the table area in front of the café, where we will stop for a break and toilets. We will follow various footpaths taking us into different areas of the forest and eventually coming out onto Forest Road by the motorway. From there will we make our way back to The Rose & Crown for our Christmas meal. Walk contains no styles.
