A lovely walk with a very short stretch of road walking at the beginning, passing through Scaldwell and skirting the lost village of Faxton. A few stiles and moderate inclines. A stretch of ploughed fields at the end which could be muddy if it has rained. Park with consideration in the village.

A countryside walk mainly across open fields, also passing through the golf course. You might be interested to see the Farthingstone Air Navigation Beacon (or UFO!). A fairly flat walk with some stiles.

Shorter Morning Walk: Meet at 11.15 am at The Boat Inn, Bridge Road, Stoke Bruerne, Postcode NN12 7SB, OS Landranger Map 152, GR 742501. Take a gentle stroll along the Grand Union Canal, through lush fields and wide bridleways that connect the pretty villages of Shutlanger, Stoke Bruerne and Blisworth – but beneath your feet, ghosts are said to haunt the dark tunnel under the hill!


This year we again have a choice of two walks, aimed to finish at around the same time to enable us to enjoy our Christmas feast. The meal is scheduled for around 2.00 pm and we have the use of the room for as long as we wish. Will we still be socially distancing? Who

knows? But The Boat have assured us we will be able to comply with the rules if we have to keep our distance!
